Through original music, laser, light, sound and historical storytelling, Harvestus honors Ida E. Brandon Mathis, the woman whose work restored farmland, strengthened Southern agriculture and began a family legacy of preserving the cavern.

Long before women gained the right to vote nationwide, Ida taught farmers to rebuild depleted land through crop rotation, diversified planting and her practical philosophy of “Safety in Food Crops.” Her influence reached farmers, agricultural leaders and national figures. She became known as the “Economic Moses of the South” and was later inducted into the Alabama Women’s Hall of Fame.
