“We were looking for something close to home that still felt like a getaway, and this was perfect. The campground was peaceful, the kids had so much to do, and the cave tour was something we’ll be talking about for a long time. It felt like a full experience, not just a place to stay. We’ve already booked coming again in a few months!”

The Reynolds Family — Atlanta, GA

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
“We live in Williamsburg and love visiting historic places, so we weren’t expecting to be as impressed as we were—but we truly were. To experience that level of history in Alabama was incredible. You can feel how special this place is. It was enriching for our whole family, and it’s somewhere we already plan to return to.”

The Lincoln Family — Williamsburg, VA

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

“We came for Talladega race weekend and wanted somewhere quiet and family-friendly to stay—and this was a win.
One day I went to the speedway while my wife and kids enjoyed the park, and another day we all explored together and did the cave tour. It ended up being one of the highlights of our trip.
The kids loved it, my wife was so glad we chose it, and the team was incredibly kind. We’ll definitely be back for future races.”

The Walker Family — Mobile, AL

Plan Your Stay

Majestic Caverns is a seasonal destination, and our park hours vary throughout the year.

• January & February: Open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays
• Most of the year: Open Friday through Monday
• Peak seasons: Expanded hours, sometimes 6–7 days per week

We recommend checking our event calendar before your visit for the most up-to-date hours.

One of the unique parts of camping here is the rhythm of the park.

On open days, you can enjoy the full experience of the caverns and attractions.
On quieter days, you’ll get to enjoy a more peaceful setting surrounded by nature.

Many guests love the balance of both.

Camp Where History Runs Deep

When you stay at Majestic Caverns, you’re not just booking a campsite—you’re stepping into one of America’s most historic places.
• Documented in 1796 during George Washington’s presidency
• Used by Native Americans for centuries
• A Civil War mining site
• Preserved by the same family since 1912

Today, that legacy continues as families gather, explore, and make memories together.
It’s more than a place to stay—it’s a place to experience.

Family-Owned. Generations of Care.

When you stay at Majestic Caverns, you’re choosing more than a campground—you’re choosing a place that’s been cared for by the same family for generations.

Your visit helps support a local team, create meaningful work, and continue a legacy that’s been shared with families for over a century.

In a world of big, forgettable places, this is something more personal.

Campground FAQ

Do you have a campground map?

Is there a cancelation fee?

There is no charge to your card that is put on file at the time of reservation unless you cancel within 24 hours of your check-in time, or do not notify us of your reservation change. The non-refundable charge is a one night stay.

Do you have full hookup?

Yes, we have electricity (30 or 50 amp sites), sewer and water connections.

Do you have long term camping available?

At times we have availability for longer stays and would love to host you. Our weekly rate is the longest stay rate available.

Where do we check in when we arrive?

Guest registration is inside the park in large building near the flags and splash pad. Any Retail Host can assist you, either ticketing or at the Cave Cafe in the gift shop.

Is there a gate code for after hours arrivals?

You are welcome to arrive after the park closes. We do not have a gate to the campground area so that late arrivals/early departures are easily facilitated.

If we arrive after close, when can we pay?

You can pay the next day or by phone with us.

Can I change to a different site than the one I booked after arrival?

It may seem that others are available, yet other guest may have a late arrival or arriving during your stay for the site you would like to move into. It is important that you only move if you are rebooked by a Retail Host in the gift shop.

Can I stay longer than my reservation?

We would love to have you stay longer if it’s available. It is crucial that you check with a Retail Host in the gift shop/Cave Cafe before staying additional nights as your site location may need to change or we could have no vacancies.

How far away are the bathrooms from the campsites?

Our shower and restrooms are in a building in the campground, centrally located for our RV guests. For our primitive campsites guests our showers are a 500 foot walk and we have closer located bathrooms that are approximately a 400 foot walk.

Can we bring our dog?

Yes, dogs are allowed in the park as long as they remain on a leash. Inside the cave we only allow pets if you are capable of holding them throughout the tour. People who bring their pets are responsible for cleaning up their pet’s waste. People with pets also will be held responsible for any damage their pet creates. Because of the indoor-outdoors nature of a cave, we cannot have any animals using the restroom inside the caverns, so they must be small enough to be held through the entirety of the tour.

Is there a laundry on site?

Yes, there is laundry on-site and there is a laundromat in Childersburg, less than five minutes down the road as well.

Do you have firewood for purchase?

We do not have wood available to purchase so it would be best if you bring it with you.

Can we build a fire?

You can build a camp fire at your site.

Are there grills or fire pits at each campsite?

We do not provide grills or fire pits for your fire.

Do we get discounts for staying in the campground?

Yes, we offer discount tickets that you can purchase and add on when purchasing your campground tickets online.

Is the campground within walking distance of the attractions?

The attractions are in an area of the park that adjoins the campground, with a 1-2 minute walk (approximately 50 yards).

How can I primitive tent camp?

There are couple ways you can tent camp at Majestic Caverns:

  • You can reserve an RV site, and include up to two tents in the larger sites.
  • You can also try primitive camping on a grassy knoll in the park. In this area there is no electricity, and outside of the campground. It is a reduced rate from an RV space.
